The Prime Minister of Canada appointed Hubert Saint-Onge to the Board of The Canadian Centre for Management Development between 1995 and 1999. He has given presentations globally on organizational learning, leadership development, communities of practice, and knowledge value creation. Since 2002, he has co-authored three cutting-edge books in the field, including Leveraging Communities of Practice for Strategic Advantage with Deb Wallace. Based on actual experience in building communities of practice at Clarica, this book focuses on how to leverage communities of practice to share knowledge, foster collaborative environments, and develop capabilities that are central to an organization. The second book he co-authored, The Conductive Organization, provides a blueprint for creating knowledge-based cultures in organizations to achieve breakthrough performance. This book includes a chapter on how to define and leverage organizational values. Over the past 10 years, Hubert Saint-Onge's consulting practice has led him to work with a number of leading organizations on building communities of practice and association organizational structures in the context of a knowledge strategy. His work on communities of practice involved the Bank of Canada, the Federal Reserve Bank, Northrop Grumman, John Deere and the Canadian Development Bank. More recently, he developed a collaborative platform at Kimberly Clark geared to disseminating capabilities across its global marketing function.
